personalised lessons

My teaching approach begins with realising that everyone is unique. Whether you’re picking up the guitar for the first time, you’ve had a go at some YouTube videos but feel you need guidance to take you to the next level, or you’re an experienced player who has got into a bit of a rut, I can help you find a way to move forward.

We all learn in different ways, and at different paces, and I will always take the time to try and understand you as a learner and tailor the lessons to be as effective as possible.

a friendly approach

A key part of my approach is that I understand two important things. First - that learning the guitar can be a daunting thing to do. Secondly - that not everyone is a confident extroverted musician. I pride myself in creating an environment that is friendly, patient and un-pressured, where making mistakes is seen as part of the process, and that everyone learns best when they learn at their pace.

Professional Teaching space

A good teacher should be able to make do with just a guitar, but it never hurts to be prepared either, so my teaching room is fully furnished with many different guitar types and amps, recording facilities to help us assess your playing in fine detail if you so wish, playback facilities that allow us to slow songs down to help us understand and learn them, and many other tools that help an effective learning approach. But above all, it’s a comfortable space to learn in.
